Resistance members protest outside a detention facility while scenes of the news coverage are broadcast on the big screen above them
In this world of high prosperity there is so much we can do
To make this world a better place for those like me and you,
But in other lands not far away
There’s children crying every day
From a life of deprivation from this world they run away.
We used to welcome others welcome strangers to our land
Kids and dads and mothers we extend a welcoming hand
But now our leader’s all but stated
That these immigrants should be hated
He wants to keep them from coming and will do whatever to keep them away.
We’ve got to save the children now
They’re just little anyhow
They’ve got a right to a life and somehow
We’ve got to save the children now!
And now at our Southern border children are ripped from parents’ arms
Fleeing from disorder they’ve done nobody harm
These families are torn apart
By a brutal government without a heart
Toddlers incarcerated with no compassion shown their way.
Nothing has so enraged us
As to see these kids locked in cages
Their parents are deported home
While their children cry all alone
Far from home, all alone…
But before you say its hopeless and that there’s nothing can be done
Before you say – impossible to reunite every single one
We can’t believe with our own eyes
Believe our leaders’ appalling lies
We must protest and raise our outrage until we make them change their ways.
We’ve got to save the children now
They’re just little anyhow
They’ve got a right to a life and somehow
We’ve got to save the children now!
