Act 2

Hope in the Face of Hate – American People

November 6, 2018

A candlelit vigil in Pittsburgh and around the nation

Darkness, then 11 silver Stars of David floating in the sky above the stage are illuminated and a Klezmer clarinet plays the intro. First one person steps forward and lights a candle and sings, soon joined by the their partner, then another couple join in. By the end, everyone on stage is holding a candle and singing as well as (hopefully) everyone in the audience.

I see hope in the face of hate
Hope though the grief still burns
I see hope though the loss is great
Hope that the tide will turn

I see healing in the midst of pain
Healing though the wound is fresh
I see healing – we’ll be whole again
Healing of our minds as well as flesh

Fear – ignore those how sow it
Hate – is our choice, we know it
Do we fear – no we don’t!
Will we hate – no we won’t!
Enough with all the fear
And all the hate – Enough!

I see the signs that the shadow will pass
I see signs that we’ll rise above
I see signs that this fear won’t last
I see signs we’ll conquer hate with love

I see hope in the face of hate…
